NFL EZ Fantasy: Expect bounce back performances from Rivers, Wilson in Week 16 image

NFL EZ fantasy provides fans an opportunity to compete against friends and fans throughout Canada during the season, and every week Sporting News Canada will give recommendations of who to play in your lineup. Here are this week's suggestions. Sign up to play here.

Quarterback

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers at Texans.  Roethlisberger will be without Antonio Brown, but that doesn't mean he can't put up big numbers against a Houston defense allowing the second-most fantasy points to QBs. He's thrown for at least 281 yards and had multiple TDs in five straight games.

Russell Wilson, Seahawks at Cowboys.  Wilson's disastrous Week 15 is in the past. He's still fantasy's No. 1 overall player and gets a great matchup against a Cowboys defense allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to QBs.

Philip Rivers, Chargers at Jets.  Rivers is another guy who let down fantasy owners in Week 15, but he'll bounce back against the Jets, who were inches away from allowing three TDs to Drew Brees last week and allow the fourth-most fantasy points to QBs.

Running back

Todd Gurley, Rams at Titans. Gurley has been the most consistent player in fantasy all season, and his ceiling in any matchup is as high as any back. The Titans have a good run defense, but they allow the second-most receiving yards/game to RBs (53.1), giving Gurley plenty of upside.

Le'Veon Bell, Steelers at Texans.  Bell has averaged 145 total yards per game with five total TDs over the past six games. The matchup doesn't matter for Bell.

Leonard Fournette, Jaguars at 49ers. Obviously, this is contingent on Fournette playing, but it sounds like he will, and the Jags have not been shy about giving their rookie a big workload all season. San Francisco has improved against the run, but it's still allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to RBs.

Wide Receiver

Keenan Allen, Chargers at Jets.  Allen's back injury reportedly isn't serious, so it's safe to expect him to get back on track against a Jets defense allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to WRs.

DeAndre Hopkins, Texans vs. Steelers. If Hopkins can get 80 yards and a TD against the Jaguars, then he can certainly put up big numbers against the Steelers. Pittsburgh has allowed nine WR touchdowns since the start of Week 10.

Adam Thielen, Vikings at Packers.  Green Bay's pass defense has plummeted to No. 24, and Thielen, despite some slow days recently, is fifth in receiving yards.

Pass Offense

Steelers at Texans. Houston's 27th-ranked pass defense seems to get worse by the week, and even without Antonio Brown, the Steelers have multiple big-play weapons who can burn the Texans.

Chargers at Jets. The Chargers rank third in the NFL in pass offense while the Jets have allowed 27 passing TDs, tied for second most. Expect the Chargers to exploit the Jets at every level of the passing game

Buccaneers at Panthers.  This might not seem like a great matchup, but Carolina has been struggling lately and will be without Thomas Davis. The Bucs have trouble running and will likely be forced to throw early and often.

Run Offense

Jaguars at 49ers.  Jacksonville leads the NFL in rushing and will run often against San Francisco's 22nd-ranked run defense.

Patriots vs. Bills.  There could be a lot of running from both teams in this one, but New England has a better chance of getting out to a lead and salting the game away on the ground in the fourth quarter. Even without Rex Burkhead, New England's backs can pile up yards against Buffalo's 25th-ranked run defense.

Cowboys vs. Seahawks.  The injuries to Seattle's defense makes it easier to run against it, as we saw with Leonard Fournette and Todd Gurley going over 100 yards in consecutive weeks. Ezekiel Elliott can do the same, and Dak Prescott will chip in yards, too. .

Defense

Chargers at Jets.  The Jets were surprisingly competent in New Orleans last week, but we're betting regression rears its ugly head against a fierce Chargers pass rush.

Bears vs. Browns. Cleveland allows multiple sacks and turnovers virtually every game. The Bears, who have shown an ability to take advantage of bad offenses, should be able to get sacks and force mistakes.

Steelers at Texans. T.J. Yates crumbled against Jacksonville's league-leading pass rush, and you can expect similar results against Pittsburgh, who ranks tied for third in sacks.

Special Teams/Kicker

Rams at Titans.  Tennessee gives up the most fantasy points to kickers, and the Rams have arguably the best kicker and special teams in the league.

Steelers at Texans.  Houston allows the second-most fantasy points to kickers, and Chris Boswell has hit at least three field goals in three of his past five games. The fact this is an indoors game is nice, too.

Ravens vs. Colts. The Colts give up a lot of fantasy points to kickers, so when they face one of the best in the league in Justin Tucker, you have to expect a good game from him.

How to Play

Each week, players will set their lineup across seven positions and can make adjustments up until kickoff.  The player who finishes each week with the most fantasy points in their favorite NFL team’s league wins a Wilson mini football and a New Era hat.

Following the season, one weekly prize winner will be randomly selected for the Grand Prize, which includes a flight, accommodations and ground transportation to the Pro Bowl in Orlando in January 2018. ions and ground transportation to the Pro Bowl in Orlando in January 2018.
