Memorial Day weekend is considered a time to celebrate America and honor its military. As usual though, most of that true meaning gets lost in the shuffle, but the weekend still is largely patriotic.

When it comes to sports, there is often nothing more patriotic than a game of football — a game that long ago took the top spot away from baseball in terms of popularity in the USA.

On this Memorial Day weekend, the USFL is kicking off the final four weeks of the 2023 regular season with four games. Only four teams will qualify for the playoffs, making Week 7 that much more important.

Saturday, May 27

Stallions (4-2) vs. Breakers (4-2)

  • Kickoff: 4 p.m. ET
  • TV channel: Fox
  • Live stream: Fox Sports App, FoxSports.com, Fubo

Saturday's slate will start later than usual, but it will bring a good opening matchup to the screen. The teams are in a three-way tie for the best record. The Breakers defeated the Stallions 45-31 in Week 3, so this is a revenge game for Birmingham. New Orleans has dropped two in a row since winning its first four.

Stars (3-3) vs. Maulers (2-4)

  • Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
  • TV channel: FS1
  • Live stream: Fox Sports App, FoxSports.com, Fubo

The late game on Saturday involves the less-competitive North Division. Both the Stars and Maulers have been outscored by their opponents this season. Philadelphia has won two in a row, including an upset of New Orleans, while Pittsburgh is coming off a 22-0 shutout loss against Memphis.

Sunday, May 28

Gamblers (4-2) vs. Showboats (3-3)

  • Kickoff: 2:30 p.m. ET
  • TV channel: USA
  • Live stream: Peacock, Fubo

Sunday's early kickoff is a crucial matchup for Memphis. The Showboats sit one game behind the other three teams in the South, but they have already lost to the Gamblers and Stallions this season. Memphis does hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Breakers. They can't afford to lose to a Gamblers squad that has won four in a row.

Panthers (2-4) vs. Generals (2-4)

  • Kickoff: 5:30 p.m. ET
  • TV channel: FS1
  • Live stream: Fox Sports App, FoxSports.com, Fubo

The Generals are the only team in the North Division to hold a positive point differential. Neither team has looked like a contender recently, but there's a good chance that one will find its way into the postseason. New Jersey has lost three in a row, while Michigan has dropped its last four after getting off to a hot start.
