Tyreek Hill had an eventful Sunday before even hitting the field for the Dolphins.
Hill was briefly detained outside Hard Rock Stadium after being "cited for reckless driving as a result of his incident outside the stadium with police," per ESPN's Jeff Darlington. Hill reportedly got into a "verbal altercation with police" after he was pulled over, which prompted the officer to place the veteran wide-out in handcuffs.
News of the incident quickly circulated on social media after a fan posted video of the incident. ESPN's Adam Schefter later shared a closer look at the detainment, during which Hill was seen lying belly-down on the ground.

MORE: What to know about Tyreek Hill's detainment before Week 1 game vs. Jaguars
The Dolphins released a statement acknowledging what had happened and that Hill would be able to play against the Jaguars.
"This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police," the statement said. "He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game."
Meanwhile, Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus called the situation "mind-boggling." He also told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe that Hill was in a good place mentally despite the incident.
NFL fans have compared Hill's detainment to the arrest of PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler, who was booked for a minor traffic violation before the second round of the PGA Championship.
Scheffler shot an impressive 4-under despite having a mugshot taken mere hours before his round. Dolphins fans — and fantasy football owners — are hoping Hill can have a similarly strong showing despite the circumstances.
Sporting News is tracking Tyreek Hill's performance in his Week 1 game against the Jaguars. Below are his stats and highlights from his first game of the season — and first outing since his minor incident with the police.

Tyreek Hill live updates, highlights Week 1 game vs. Jaguars
(All times Eastern.)
4:09 p.m. — Hill finished his day with seven catches, 130 yards and a touchdown. He racked up most of his production on his 80-yard score, but he still showed no ill effects from his dramatic start to the day.
The Dolphins also managed a 20-17 come-from-behind win thanks to Hill's second-half performance, so Mike McDaniel will surely be grateful for what his veteran wide-out achieved on Sunday.
3:19 p.m. — Hill finally makes his big play. He catches an 80-yard touchdown from Tua Tagovailoa after the Dolphins defense recovered a Travis Etienne fumble in the end zone.

Hill's score cut the Jaguras' lead to 17-14 and represented a 14-point swing, as Etienne would likely have scored had Miami not stripped him at the final second.
2:24 p.m. — The Dolphins finally notched a touchdown drive, and Hill was nearly the one who scored. He caught a dump-off pass in the red-zone and ran after the catch to get the ball to about the 5-yard line. De'Von Achane would later pound it in on a 1-yard touchdown run, but Hill played a big part in Miami's first score.
1:38 p.m. — Another drive, another catch for Hill. He makes a 7-yard grab, but the Dolphins' offense can't get much going against the Jaguars. Hill has still yet to make a big play, as his longest reception is just 10 yards.
1:22 p.m. — Hill finishes his second drive with two catches for 12 yards. Tagovailoa has targeted him five times, but they haven't connected on the three deep balls so far. Tua's throws have been a bit off, but the two figure to connect for a big play soon enough.
1:19 p.m. — The Dolphins continue to target Hill deep, but Tua Tagovailoa can't connect with him. Hill had a step on the defender, but Tagovailoa overthrew him by a couple of steps.
1:10 p.m. — Hill wasn't overly involved in the Dolphins' first drive. He was targeted twice and caught one pass — a short, 2-yard route by Tua Tagovailoa. The veteran receiver was also targeted on a deep ball but couldn't get to it.
