Former Saints safety Tracy Porter, famous for a game-clinching interception and return for touchdown against the Colts in Super Bowl 44, was arrested Tuesday on drug and battery charges after a woman claimed he attacked her last week.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the woman said Porter became physical with her during an argument in which he allegedly pushed her against a car and grabbed her around the face and neck, WWL TV reported.
Porter admitted to grabbing the woman, but said he was protecting himself.

Police also found a prescription painkiller on Porter when they questioned him. He did not have a prescription for the drug. According to the affidavit, officers found 46 more pills in his car along with one ounce of marijuana, a grinder and a 9mm firearm.
Porter, who admitted to owning the items found, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for possession with intent to distribute Acetaminophen, possession of a firearm with a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and battery of a dating partner.
