The NFL's regular season has come to a close, and there are now just 13 games left before the NFL will crown a Super Bowl 57 champion.

As such, all of the NFL's remaining games will be important. Fans won't want to miss a single one of them and will be tuned into the 2023 NFL playoff schedule as a result.

Among the first questions that will be asked: will there be a "Thursday Night Football" game as a part of Super Wild Card Weekend?

"Thursday Night Football" is certainly a staple of the NFL's regular-season calendar. However, fans won't be treated to an early weekend matchup ahead of the wild-card round.

Here's everything you need to know about "TNF" for the 2023 playoffs and what you can watch with the program finished for the season.

Is there a 'Thursday Night Football' game tonight?

No, there is not a "Thursday Night Football" game on Jan. 12. There will be no more Thursday night games for the rest of the NFL season, as all 2023 NFL playoff games will take place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The official "Thursday Night Football" program on Amazon Prime Video will return to airwaves in Week 2 of the 2023 NFL regular season. The NFL will still host its usual Thursday night season kickoff, but the rights to that contest are owned by NBC's "Sunday Night Football." So, "TNF" won't officially be played in Week 1, but there will still be a Thursday game.

The final "Thursday Night Football" game of the season was played on Dec. 29, when the Cowboys beat the Titans 27-13 in a game where Tennessee rested most of its starters. The victory gave Dallas a chance to compete for the NFC East title while the Titans remained focused on a win-or-go-home game against the Jaguars in Week 18.

As mentioned, there will be a "Monday Night Football" game during the 2023 NFL playoffs. The NFL added that to the schedule during the 2022 postseason and plans to keep it on as a part of Super Wild Card Weekend moving forward.

There are no plans to do that with "Thursday Night Football." Why? Because having two teams play on short rest would create a competitive disadvantage for the playoff field; and then, whichever team advanced would have a rest advantage over the rest of the field.

Sports on TV today

Football fans are going to be out of luck if they are looking for a game to watch on Thursday night. There will be no more "Thursday Night Football" this season and the college football season is over as well. So, many will have to shift their focus to other sports if they are looking for entertainment options to fill the void.

Luckily, the NBA, NHL and college basketball seasons are starting to kick into full gear, so fans can catch some of those contests in that time slot instead. Here's a look at what will air when "Thursday Night Football" normally would.

  • NBA: Nets vs. Celtics (7:30 p.m. ET, TNT), Lakers vs. Mavericks (10 p.m. ET, TNT)
  • NHL: Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs (7 p.m. ET, ESPN)
