The NFL has reduced Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis' suspension from two games to one for his blindside block that put Packers receiver Davante Adams in the concussion protocol, the league announced Tuesday.

Davis delivered the block against Adams during an interception return in the third quarter of the Panthers' 31-24 win on Sunday.

Davis will miss the Dec. 24 game against the Buccaneers but will be able to return for a key Dec. 31 matchup against the Falcons which could decide the winner of the NFC South.

Davis issued an apology for the hit after Adams accused the veteran linebacker of headhunting.

"I understand your frustration and I do apologize for the hit! In no way was I trying to hurt you. My first instinct was turn and make a block. In all sincerity I do apologize. I truly respect you as a player and I made a mistake!" Davis tweeted.
