The Steelers finished another strong winning season under coach Mike Tomlin, beating the Ravens in the final game of the 2023 NFL season. By improving to 10-7 in Week 18, they also were rewarded with a wild-card berth in the AFC playoffs, despite season-long injury issues at quarterback and all over the defense.

That win not only secures another 10-win campaign, but it also puts Pittsburgh on lock to reach the postseason.

Here's what happened so Pittsburgh could earn a wild-card berth and join rivals Baltimore (the AFC North champions and No. 1 seed) and Cleveland (theAaFC wild-card No. 5 seed) in the playoff field ahead of Super Bowl 58:

How Steelers got into the AFC playoffs in Week 18

The Steelers improved to 10-7 on Saturday, while the Texans also did the same, eliminating the now 9-8 Colts. The Texans clinched the AFC South title when the Jaguars lost to fall to 9-8 on Sunday. That eliminated the Jaguars, one game behind the Steelers in the standings and gave the Steelers the last AFC wild-card spot.

Steelers playoff seeding scenario

The Steelers got Jacksonville to lose to get into the playoffs, but they could still end up as the No. 6 seed depending on what happens to Buffalo on Sunday night. If the Steelers, at 10-7, see the Bills drop to also 10-7, they would hold the head-to-head tiebreaker based on the better conference record.

Pittsburgh clinches No. 6 seed with:

  • Bills loss

Pittsburgh clinches No. 7 seed with:

  • Bills win or tie
