Did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce break up? Explaining the simple reason for singer's absence from Chiefs games image

No matter who Kansas City's Sunday opponent is, there is one spectator both fanbases will be looking for, home and away.

Of course, that is none other than Taylor Swift.

Travis Kelce and the pop star went public this time last year when Swift attended the tight end's Week 3 matchup against the Bears at Arrowhead. The saga, beginning in July 2023 when Kelce appealed to Swift on his podcast after attending the Eras Tour in Kansas City, is still being written.

With the singer in the stands, the Chiefs went 11-6 last year, including an undefeated run through the playoffs on the way to winning Super Bowl LVII. The 2024 campaign, however, has been a different story.

Swift did show up to Kelce's first two games against Baltimore and Cincinnati, both one-score victories. However, she has not been seen in Chiefs gear since, prompting inquiries into the pair's relationship status.

Here's everything to know about Swift and Kelce's breakup rumors, explaining the simple reason for the singer's absence from Chiefs games.

Did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce break up?

Neither Swift nor Kelce has offered any insight on whether they are together at the moment, but there is nothing to indicate they are separated. One can make assumptions based on the singer's absence from the tight end's past two games, but a split is unlikely.

Kelce has struggled so far this season and had his best performance on Sunday against the Chargers, without his girlfriend there in support. The tight end caught seven passes for 89 yards on nine targets, much improved from the three weeks prior. It's rumored that Swift skipped the game in Los Angeles to allow Kelce to get back in the zone and return to his old form.

It's worth mentioning this Sunday was the day after the couple was scheduled to break up, per a controversial "breakup contract" that alleged they would split in the middle of the regular season and ensure both suffered negligible damage to their images.

Kelce's PR team Full Scope quickly came out with a statement clarifying the document initially leaked on Reddit was "entirely false and fabricated." However, one of the tight end's reps, Jack Ketsoyan, admitted on a podcast in 2019 to putting together fake publicity romances in the past.

There is still no real confirmation of whether the contract was real or not, especially considering the rise of artificial intelligence, but it's notable considering the proposed date and Swift's absences.

Will Taylor Swift attend more Chiefs games this season?

So far, Swift has shown face at two Chiefs games, both victories at Arrowhead. Kansas City's next pair of matchups was on the road, first in Atlanta then in Los Angeles. Neither of these contests conflicted with an Eras Tour date — her next concert is not until Friday, Oct. 18, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla.

The tour goes international in November, heading to Toronto and Vancouver before the final date on Sunday, December 8 at BC Place. This means Swift will be free from her performing duties by the time the Chiefs are fighting for postseason glory.
