Who will win Super Bowl 2023? Picks, predictions, odds for Eagles vs. Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 image

The Eagles will face the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The game will be televised on Fox.

Of course, Andy Reid will be among the lead storylines in this Super Bowl. Reid coached the Eagles from 1999-2012, and now he has a chance to win his second Super Bowl with Kansas City.

The Chiefs finished 14-3 in the regular season and defeated the Bengals 23-20 in the AFC championship game, which avenged last season's loss in the same round. Kansas City is making its fifth Super Bowl appearance – and its third in the last four seasons.

Patrick Mahomes III - a strong candidate to win his second NFL MVP award – played through a high-ankle sprain. Tight end Travis Kelce also played through back spasms, and the Chiefs' primary playmakers will have two weeks to rest. The defense – led by Chris Jones — made the plays at the right time this season.

Philadelphia, which finished 14-3 in the regular season, is making its fourth Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. The Eagles beat San Francisco 31-7 in the NFC championship game, and now second-year coach Nick Sirianni has a chance to lead Philadelphia to its second Super Bowl championship.

Jalen Hurts, who suffered a shoulder injury in Week 15, rushed for three TDs in two playoff victories, and the Eagles rode a balanced offense to this Super Bowl appearance. Hassan Reddick, who has 3.5 sacks in the postseason, leads a nasty pass rush that totaled 70 sacks in the regular season.

Will the Eagles win their second Super Bowl in six seasons? Or will the Chiefs win the "Reid Bowl?"

Super Bowl 2023 pick, prediction

The extra week of rest comes at the right time for Hurts and Mahomes.

Hurts' running ability is a huge part of the Eagles' offense. He had 20 carries for 73 yards with a pair of TDs in the two playoff games, but the running game still functioned at a high level in the two playoff victories. Philadelphia averaged 208 yards per game in those victories, Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott all have been effective around a dominant offensive line.

Will that offensive line be able to push Jones around in the interior? Kansas City had a top-10 rushing defense in the regular season (109.3), and there is more pressure on the Chiefs to win this battle knowing the work Hurts has done with A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert in the passing game. Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed left the AFC championship game. That's a key injury to monitor in the bye week leading up to the Super Bowl.

The Eagles were +8 in turnover ratio in the regular season, and they were +4 with no turnovers in the NFC playoffs. If Hurts has time and a a strong running game behind him, then the Eagles will be in good shape.

Mahomes' ankle will remain a topic of conversation, but he had 326 passing yards and two TDs against the Bengals despite somewhat-limited mobility while scrambling. He's still the game's ultimate playmaker, and Kelce remains his favorite target. Can the Eagles cover Kelce in the middle of the field? Which Kansas City receivers will step up? Marquez Valdes-Scantling was the down-field answer with Kadarius Toney out with an ankle injury.

Kansas City also cannot abandon the run in this game with Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco, a speedster who can be active in the passing game. Mahomes' mobility is the X-factor knowing how devastating Philadelphia's pass rush can be – especially with Reddick, Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat.

This is two highly-creative offenses with MVP-caliber playmakers, and the key stat to watch in huge games in third-down conversion percentage. Kansas City (48.8%) and Philadelphia (47.5%) ranked second and third in the regular season, and the Chiefs were 50% against the Bengals. The Eagles were 33% against the 49ers, and Kansas City will turn up the rush with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

It's a virtual pick'em for a reason, and that line could shift toward the Chiefs before kickoff. The Eagles' running game will be a huge factor, and Philadelphia will lead at halftime in this game. Still, this is another Mahomes legacy game, and the victory against the Bengals was just another example of how his dynamic play-making ability shifts games. Count on the lessons learned from the loss to Tampa Bay in Super Bowl LV to register, especially against that pass rush.

This is Reid's fourth trip to the Super Bowl as a head coach, and that experience will pay off – especially in the fourth quarter. Kansas City wins on another walk-off by Harrison Butker in a fantastic Super Bowl that lives up to expectations.

Super Bowl 57 final score

Chiefs 31, Eagles 28
