The Steelers are supposed to launch the Russell Wilson era on Sunday when they face the Falcons, but it's unclear if the nine-time Pro Bowler will be available for the 2024 season opener.

Pittsburgh added Wilson and Justin Fields to the roster during the offseason, sparking debates about which quarterback should be the starter. In late August, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced that Wilson had won the starting job over Fields. However, the former Seahawks star has been dealing with a calf injury, so Fields may jump ahead of him on the depth chart.

The Falcons, meanwhile, are hoping to avoid yet another 7-10 season after finishing with that record three years in a row. New coach Raheem Morris has a lot of talent at his disposal, including quarterback Kirk Cousins, running back Bijan Robinson, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts.
