Patrick Mahomes will star on the field during Super Bowl 55, and if State Farm's teases are any indication, he'll have a commercial role to play, too.
The company hasn't released its Super Bowl commercial ahead of time, instead unveiling multiple teases that point toward big things during the big game. State Farm has never had an in-game Super Bowl advertisement before, but that's changing in 2021.
State Farm already has a number of high-profile athletes on its books, including Mahomes, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Suns point guard Chris Paul. But there are hints of more to come from State Farm.
“The Big Game is the only media event each year where people are as excited about the advertising as they are the event, so we’re going to bring fans something entertaining and memorable,” said State Farm chief marketing officer Rand Harbert in a statement, before adding there'll be "some surprise special guests you won't see coming."
UPDATE: State Farm's first commercial of the Super Bowl featured "Drake from State Farm."

State Farm Super Bowl commercial teasers
The first 20-second tease features Jake, the State Farm ambassador, alluding to a new member to the team.
“Every football fan knows Team State Farm," Jake says. "We got Rodgers. We got Mahomes. And this Sunday, we’re adding another elite talent to the roster."
Another tease features Jake in front of a big whiteboard, planning out the roster. He's shown on the phone speaking about someone who's "busy working on the new album."
Who could the new State Farm superstar be?
There's not a whole lot to work with here. State Farm seems to have a type, big-name athletes. The album comment could initially push us off the scent, wanting us to think about pure musicians. But that could just be a misdirection from Jake.
How about an athlete who also makes music? There's Cole Beasley, although he probably doesn't deserve this much hype. It's unlikely they'd bring in some retired athlete who makes music, either.
There's one obvious option staring us in the face, another point guard, one younger than Paul as the veteran moves toward his retirement. If State Farm is grabbing an athlete musician, it'd have to be Damian Lillard.
They could actually just be adding a musician to the team, though, which then opens it up and makes it almost impossible to predict. So if you're a betting man, Dame D.O.L.L.A is the way to go.
