Sports world mourns Cedric Benson's unexpected death image

The reported death of former Texas and NFL star Cedric Benson at age 36 in a motorcycle accident sent ripples through the sports world Sunday.

According to mutiple reports, Benson died Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Austin, Texas. A passenger on the motorcycle was also killed and two people in the vehicle were injured.

Before any teams made formal announcements, former Longhorns coach Mack Brown, who coached Benson during his college days, offered his condolences in a comment on Instagram.

"We lost a great one way too soon. #RIP," Brown wrote on a fan account's photo.

The school later offered it's sympathy.

The Bears, who selected Benson fourth overall in the 2005 NFL Draft, and Bengals, who had him on their roster from 2008-11, also offered their condolences.

Other players from around the league offered their sympathy as well.
