The Seahawks were a yard away from winning the NFC West last season before the 49ers stopped them short of the goal line late in the regular-season finale. No doubt it was a good season, but good might not be good enough in 2020 as the NFC West is arguably the best division in football. They'll need solid production in their 2020 NFL Draft class to stay competitive.

Seattle took Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks in the first round, a move that had many scratching their heads as the most important needs were at edge rusher, offensive line, wide receiver and running back, and Brooks is pretty limited in his ability to defend the pass. The Seahawks got their pass rusher in the second round with Tennessee defensive end Darrell Taylor, but they passed on better options in A.J. Epenesa and Terrell Lewis. They then reached to grab an interior lineman with LSU's Damien Lewis in the third round.

Seahawks NFL Draft needs

  • Defensive line: Seattle brought back Bruce Irvin, but Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah are still free agents, so it might look to draft an edge rusher. The Seahawks were tied for 29th in the league with 28 sacks last season.
  • Running back: Rashaad Penny, drafted in the first round two years ago, is coming off a torn ACL and Chris Carson is set to become a free agent after the season, so the Seahawks could look to add backfield depth.
  • Offensive line: After watching the Seahawks allow the ninth-most sacks in the NFL in 2019, general manager John Schneider aggressively addressed the unit in free agency by signing Cedric Ogbuehi, Brandon Shell, B.J. Finney, Chance Warmack and Mike Iupati to short-term deals. Seattle still could use a long-term protector for Wilson, though.
  • Wide receiver: The Seahawks signed Phillip Dorsett in free agency, adding him to a group anchored by Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. With Seattle having four picks in the first three rounds — and this year's wide receiver draft class being incredibly deep — Seattle could add another weapon to surround Wilson.
  • Safety: Bradley McDougald played in 15 games last season while Quandre Diggs and Lano Hill split time at strong safety. An addition to the secondary could improve a defense that ranked third in the NFL with 32 takeaways last season.
