A doctor told Russell Wilson he was lucky to escape without a broken jaw after a hit to the head by Karlos Dansby in Week 10, but the Seahawks quarterback still felt the impact's effect for days.
Wilson told reporters Friday that he couldn't eat solid food for about three days after the Nov. 9 win in Arizona and had to subsist on smoothies through the weekend after the Thursday night game. In addition to the liquid diet, he had to wear what amounted to a splint for a little while to "reset" his jaw.

"The doctor was like, ‘Man, any harder and we probably would have had to wire your mouth shut,’" Wilson said at a news conference. "So that was a good thing that didn’t happen."

The Seahawks' schedule cut Wilson a break in the wake of the injury, as Seattle has a long layoff between the Thursday night game in Week 10 and a Monday night game in Week 11. Wilson insisted he'll have no issues lining up against the Falcons for that contest, brushing off inquiries about how he feels now by saying, "I’m good, I’m fine, it’s good."
Wilson also didn't have much to say about the NFL's investigation into whether the team violated concussion protocol by allowing the QB to return to the field after missing only one play following the hit in question.
"The league’s gotta do what they’ve gotta do and obviously it’s really important for player safety and everything, but I was completely fine — just my jaw got busted up pretty good," Wilson said. "We’re cooperating, doing everything we can to make sure that we do it the right way, that’s how we always try to do it."
Dansby was fined $18,231 for the hit, according to multiple reports Friday.
