It's now the second time Anderson has dealt with this exact injury.
Anderson, a sixth-round pick in the 2019 draft, left Thursday's game with what was initially categorized as a right knee injury after a short carry in the first quarter.
It was Anderson's second game of the preseason and it came just three weeks after he was cleared to practice.
He was an early Heisman candidate last year at Oklahoma but tore the ACL in his right knee in the second game of the 2018 season.
Anderson was injury-prone throughout his collegiate career.
He had another season-ending injury when he sustained a broken leg in the second game of his freshman year, as well.
Anderson was one of two running backs the Bengals selected in the sixth round the draft. Cincinnati also took Trayveon Williams, who led the SEC in rushing in 2018, out of Texas A&M.
Williams' role will likely increase if Anderson does miss the rest of the season.
It will also open an additional spot for the Bengals ahead of Saturday's cuts.
