The Chargers announced Monday quarterback Philip Rivers is in the concussion protocol.
If Rivers cannot play next Sunday against the Bills, it would end his streak of 185 consecutive starts dating to 2005. That's the second-longest active streak among quarterbacks, behind only Eli Manning (208). It's the fourth-longest by any quarterback in NFL history, behind Peyton Manning (208 straight starts) and Brett Favre (297).

Rivers played the entire game Sunday in the Chargers' 20-17 overtime loss to the Jaguars. But on the Chargers' last offensive play, he lowered his helmet to tackle Jags cornerback A.J. Bouye after an interception.
Earlier in the game, Rivers took a beating on a high-low tackle on another play.

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted Rivers self-reported the concussion symptoms when he reported to the Chargers facility this morning.
If Rivers can't go next weekend, backup Kellen Clemens would be in line to get the start, with Cardale Jones the backup.
