When quarterback Patrick Mahomes scrambled 20 yards backward on a third-and-18 play early in the second quarter Sunday night, it seemed the Chiefs would have to settle for a field goal attempt against the Colts.
But then, the reigning NFL MVP escaped the pressure and charged toward the line of scrimmage, firing a throw on the run for a 27-yard touchdown to Byron Pringle, completing a play that was wild even by Mahomes' standards.

The score put the Chiefs up 10-7, their first lead of the night. Earlier in the drive, he pulled off one of his trademark sidearm passes to convert on a long second down.

Earlier this year, Mahomes destroyed the Raiders in just one quarter, but none of those plays were as eye-popping as his connection with Pringle on Sunday night.
