Everything's bigger in Texas.
Patrick Mahomes has cemented his status as one of the most dominant players in the NFL today. With an opportunity to earn his second championship ring when he and the Chiefs face off against the Eagles in Super Bowl 57, there's little doubt about that.
Long before Mahomes was carving up NFL defenses, though, he was dicing up the state of Texas in a legendary high school football career. Mahomes' dominance followed him from high school to college, and later, to the NFL.

The stars at night are big and bright deep in the heart of Texas — and that includes the future ones. Here's what to know about Mahomes' hometown.
Where is Patrick Mahomes hometown?
Mahomes was born on Sept. 17, 1995 in Tyler, Texas. Mahomes' father, Patrick, was also from Texas. Mahomes attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, which is about 20 minutes from Tyler.
While at Whitehouse, Mahomes played basketball, baseball and football. His senior year, he threw a 16-strikeout no-hitter in baseball, while throwing for 4,619 yards, 948 rushing yards, 50 passing touchdowns and another 15 rushing touchdowns as the QB of the Wildcats.
Tyler sits about an hour and a half east of Dallas, Texas. As such, Mahomes grew up a big, big fan of Jerry's boys:
"I was more [a fan of] Romo," Mahomes said on the Cowboys QB that stood out to him. "Aikman was right before me. So I got a lot of close playoff games but not a lot of wins. I was still a die-hard Cowboys fan growing up."

Where did Patrick Mahomes go to college?
Mahomes went to Texas Tech University, which he attended between 2014 and 2016. Coming out of high school, he was labeled a three-star recruit, somewhat surprisingly, leading to minimal interest from colleges.
He was offered by Rice, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, but ultimately committed to Texas Tech, where Kliff Kingsbury was the team's head coach. Kingsbury was in his second season as the team's head coach.
Mahomes was a dual-sport athlete while at Texas Tech, also pitching for the Red Raiders baseball squad. He would stop playing baseball after his sophomore season to focus strictly on football entering his junior season.
