NFL Week 7: Odds, betting storylines to watch

Week 7 kicks off with a defensive battle in New Orleans, as the Saints host Bo Nix and the Broncos on Thursday Night Football. Then the Patriots hand the ball to Drake Maye for the rookie's second start, this time in London against the Jaguars. Betting against rookie QBs away from home seems like a sage decision.

Sunday's main slate features seven 1:00 p.m. games and four in the 4:00 p.m. window. The early highlights: a bird-brawl between the Seahawks and Falcons in the ATL, Jordan Love's Packers vs. C.J. Stroud's Texans in Green Bay, and Lions-Vikings in Minnesota. The Pack 2.5 at home feels like the best early value.

The most anticipated game of the weekend, of course, is Chiefs at 49ers. A rematch of February's Super Bowl, this Santa Clara clash should draw crazy numbers both on the television market and on the betting markets. The opening lines revealed Kansas City as a slight underdog, but that could change quickly.

A jam-packed week concludes with a doubleheader on Monday night. The first game will feature reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Ravens taking on emerging MVP candidate Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers in Tampa, and the second game will feature Jim Harbaugh's Chargers visiting Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr. and the Cardinals.

The Bucs getting four points at opening tells us that oddsmakers and bettors alike remain defiant when it comes to this squad's status as a contender. The Chargers being listed as favorites over a feisty Cards team also feels like too much respect for Harbaugh and too little respect for Murray, MHJ and company.
