Blink and you'll miss it.

Amid the drama of the Olympic Games and the doldrums of midsummer baseball, America's Game is on the horizon.

The 2024 NFL season is a little over a month away. With that comes a series of storylines, all of which are expected to come into focus as we get closer to the Shield's official start date.

Will the Chiefs achieve the vaunted three-peat? Will Aaron Rodgers return to his stead as one of football's greatest arms? What will we make of the loaded incoming class of rookies, including Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels?

Those questions and more will be answered in weeks. Until then, we wait with bated breath.

The Sporting News has everything you need to know to watch Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, from the Thursday night opener to "Sunday Night Football" and "Monday Night Football."

When does the NFL season start in 2024?

  • Date: Thursday, Sep. 5
  • Game: Ravens at Chiefs
  • Kickoff time: 8:20 p.m. ET | 7:20 p.m. CT

This year, the opening contest of the season will see the Ravens take on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

Last year's AFC Championship was a tightly-contested matchup, with a Zay Flowers fumble proving the difference. Given the might of the two sides' quarterbacks, it could be a preview of a postseason clash this year, as well.

NFL schedule Week 1

The 2024 NFL schedule will kick off with a bang, with the Chiefs facing the Ravens in a rematch of last year's AFC Championship on Thursday night.

There are a host of exciting matchups slated for the weekend of Sept. 5-9, including a clash between the Cowboys and Browns (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, Fox), Jordan Love and the Packers dueling with Jalen Hurts and the Eagles in Sao Paolo (Friday, 8:15 p.m. ET, Peacock), and Aaron Rodgers' first game back from his torn Achilles against the 49ers (Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN/ABC).

There won't be a "Monday Night Football" doubleheader, however.
