NFL trade rumors: Jets sending Leonard Williams to Giants image

Leonard Williams is staying in New York, but he won't be wearing the Jets' green any longer.

The defensive end was traded from the Jets to the Giants, ESPN reported Monday, citing an unidentified source. According to the report, the Jets will receive a third-round pick in 2020 and a fifth-round pick in 2021 for Williams.

When Giants coach Pat Shurmur was asked about the trade, he declined to make a statement.

"I don't. I don't. Again I wouldn't comment on that until anything was public," he said, via NFL Network.

The Williams deal marks the first time that the Jets and Giants have ever traded with each other, according to ESPN.

Williams, 25, was the Jets' No. 6 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was scheduled to be a free agent this offseason after spending four years with the Jets.

In his first four seasons in the league, he has recorded 17 sacks and 32 tackles for loss.
