Jones, a former CFL star, started 14 games for the Giants last season after Weston Richburg went down to an injury. Current Vikings starting center Pat Elflein is dealing with ankle and shoulder injuries, but is expected to avoid the PUP list.
Cornelius Edison had been playing in place of Elflein in Minnesota, but Jones will likely be the favorite to start should Elflein miss regular season time.
If Jones sees the field to start the season, he will have the important assignment of protecting new quarterback Kirk Cousins.
