NFL salary cap cuts 2024: Team-by-team tracker of players released into NFL free agency image

The year-by-year roster turnover in the NFL has begun.

Free agency looms ahead in the NFL offseason, as all 32 clubs are gearing up to build the best roster possible for the 2024 season. Part of that process includes auditing their own organization before checking out who is available on the open market.

In order to fully maximize their cap space, clubs are looking to cut ties with unwieldy contracts in order to use that money elsewhere. In the NFL, sometimes those monetary agreements come back to bite a player if he is not performing up to the standards of his deal.

The result? Hitting free agency earlier than anticipated.

Already, notable cuts have been made. The Buccaneers are parting ways with linebacker Shaquil Barrett, the Dolphins are moving on from cornerback Xavien Howard and the Bears let go of veteran cornerback Eddie Jackson.

Still, there will be plenty more names to hit the market over the coming weeks, making for an interesting market of players this upcoming free agency period.
