The Patriots opted to keep wide receiver Kenny Britt Tuesday, picking up his option for the 2018 season, according to NFL.com.

Britt played nine games with the Browns last season before getting released. He then was signed off waivers by the Patriots, where he played three more games. In all, Britt hauled in just 20 passes with two touchdowns.

Despite the down year, Britt still possess upside just one year removed from a 68-reception season with more than 1,000 yards receiving and five touchdowns. New England needed another red-zone threat, and Britt may be its guy.

According to the report, the Patriots are "looking for big things out of him" this season with the status of tight end Rob Gronkowski still up for grabs.
