The "Thursday Night Football" matchup in Week 10 features a battle between the Falcons and the Panthers with serious NFC South implications on the line.
Falcons vs. Panthers live updates, highlights
Both squads enter Week 10 with sub-.500 records, however, the entire division has played poorly this year and it is anyone's lead to grab. The Falcons are currently tied with the Buccaneers for first place, sharing a 4-5 record. However, Tampa Bay does own the tiebreaker for now, having defeated Atlanta in their first meeting this season.
Carolina is 2-7 on the year, and while a win would put the Panthers in a spot to push for a playoff position, the team might be better off with a loss. The Panthers own the second-worst record in the league and after trading away Christian McCaffrey at the deadline, a top draft pick may be the best outcome.
This is the second time the Panthers and Falcons have met this season. You may remember Atlanta's thrilling 37-34 win in overtime over Carolina. PJ Walker threw a Hail Mary to D.J. Moore in the last minute of the fourth quarter to tie the contest. An Eddy Pineiro missed extra point kept the game knotted and sent it to OT, where he also missed a kick. Younghoe Koo ended the game with a 41-yarder to seal the win in overtime.
Both teams enter Thursday coming off losses in Week 9. The Falcons dropped a 20-17 decision to the Chargers, losing on a Cameron Dicker field goal as time expired. The Panthers were thumped by the Bengals 42-21, as the Carolina defense allowed Joe Mixon to score five total touchdowns on the day.
