Webb entered training camp as the second quarterback on the Giants depth chart. Some believed he was in line to eventually become New York’s starter after veteran Eli Manning retired.
The Giants had been looking to trade Webb before cutting him, according to a report from ESPN. He never appeared in a regular-season game with the Giants.
New York picked former Richmond quarterback Kyle Lauletta in the fourth round of this year’s draft. It also has Alex Tanney to backup Manning.
The Giants will open the regular season against the Jaguars next Sunday.
