Browns take exception to trash talk from Jaguars’ Tashaun Gipson image

Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson let it ride during a recent radio interview leading up to Sunday’s game against the Browns, saying, “I truly hope that we hang 40 [points] on them” and “their offense probably shouldn’t score against our defense.”

Instead of pushing the chatter aside, Browns coach Hue Jackson said he wants Gipson’s comments to resonate with his winless football team.

“Anytime anybody says something about the organization and the football team, you want your people to be aware, but we have earned this,” Jackson said (via Ohio.com). “People are going to say things. You guys [in the media] say things. People say things all the time. We get it. It isn’t going to change until we change it. The only way you change it is you start winning.”

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said he addressed the comments with Gipson and added, “That’s not something that we like to do as a team.”

Gipson said Wednesday his only regret about his rant was saying Cleveland is “probably going to finish 0-16.”

As for Browns players and their response, defensive tackle Danny Shelton said “anybody would be disrespected” by Gipson’s comments, while quarterback DeShone Kizer said he’s looking forward to “executing my job to try to prove [Gipson] wrong.”

Gipson played four seasons in a Browns uniform after going undrafted in 2012. He was not re-signed as a free agent in 2016.
