Connor Barth badly missed a game-tying field goal Sunday against the Lions and is now unemployed.

The Bears (3-7) cut Barth on Monday after his 46-yard attempt with time expiring went wide right allowing Detroit to clinch a 27-24 win.

Barth was 11-of-16 on field goal attempts this season and missed kicks in three of the Bears' past four games.

Chicago quickly filled the roster spot by signing former Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos, who was waived by Kansas City on Sept. 30 with a groin injury.

Santos was a perfect 3-of-3 on field goal attempts and 12-of-12 on extra points before being placed on injured reserve prior to Week 4. The emergence of rookie Harrison Butker made the 26-year-old Santos expendable four days later.
