In a meeting between two teams looking for their third win of the young season, the possibility for fireworks exists when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Illinois to face the Chicago Bears.
The Buccaneers were brought back down to Earth after a scorching start through the first two weeks of the season, with Week 3 bringing a humbling loss at the hands of the previously winless Pittsburgh Steelers. Ryan Fitzpatrick hit 400 passing yards again, but he wasn't able to conjure enough "Fitzmagic" in order to keep Tampa Bay's winning streak going.
With Jameis Winston having completed his three-game suspension to start the 2018 campaign, it'll be interesting to see how many snaps are given to each of the Buccaneers two quarterbacks in Week 4.
At the other end of the field is a Bears team that is coming off consecutive victories after a heartbreaking opening-week defeat to Green Bay. Chicago QB Mitch Trubisky isn't putting up Fitzpatrick's gaudy numbers, but he's shown enough improvement over his rookie season to provide a steady hand on offense to complement the Bears' suffocating defense.
Buccaneers-Bears head-to-head statistics
- The Bears hold a 38-20 all-time advantage in this match-up, but the Buccaneers have claimed the two most recent head-to-head meetings.
- The last time Tampa Bay played at Soldier Field was Nov. 2014, when the Bears won 21-13. The Buccaneers have won just six of 27 all-time meetings in Chicago.
- Ryan Fitzpatrick is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 400 yards in each of his team's first three games. In three career meetings with Chicago, Tampa Bay's starting QB, Jameis Winston, has 811 passing yards (270.3 per game), five touchdowns and two interceptions.
- Bears linebacker Khalil Mack already has three forced fumbles this season, tops in the NFL. Fourteen teams have fewer forced fumbles than the 27-year-old in the 2018 campaign.
Buccaneers-Bears odds
The Bears are 3-point favorites at home. The over-under is set at 46.5.
