NFL 2018 Week 4: Ravens vs. Steelers preview, statistics, odds image

Many fans call the rivalry between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers one of the best in football. And on Sunday, that rivalry is renewed as the Ravens go in to Pittsburgh for an AFC North clash.

Baltimore started the new season well, with a 2-1 record. They've won both of their home games with a trashing of the Buffalo Bills coming in Week 1 and a solid victory against the Denver Broncos in Week 3. Their only loss was to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 after traveing to Ohio on a short week.

With the selection of quarterback Lamar Jackson in the first round of this year's draft, some speculated that Joe Flacco was on the hot seat. But Flacco's performance to start the year should cool that chatter down for now. He's thrown six touchdowns to two interceptions along with 889 passing yards, good for a 92.8 passer rating.

The Ravens haven't been able to get the ball moving out of the backfield, however. Their leading rusher, Alex Collins, has just 116 rushing yards through three games. Baltimore is also 31st in yards per carry, averaging just 3.1 yards per attempt.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Ravens pass defense has performed well through the first three games of the season. Three players (Tavon Young, Za'Darius Smith and Terrell Suggs) have at least two sacks and another three players have an interception.

The Ravens pass defense faces their biggest test so far this season as they go up against one of the league's best quarterback-receiver duos over the last few seasons in Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown.

However, Brown isn't the only weapon the Ravens should worry about. JuJu Smith-Schuster is actually the team leader in receiving yards with 356, which is also the third-highest in the league.

One of the biggest question marks surrounding the Steelers before the season started was whether or not Le'Veon Bell's absence would make a huge difference.

It hasn't.

James Conner has 352 scrimmage yards as the Steelers top back, proving to be a dual-threat out of the backfield.

So why are the Steelers just 1-1-1?

Well, their defense is among the worst in the NFL. The Steelers have given up more yards than any team except for three and have allowed 30 points per game, which is the fifth worst in the league.

Ravens-Steelers head-to-head statistics

  • Joe Flacco has been consistent against division opponents as of late. In his last four games against AFC North teams, Flacco has thrown at least two touchdowns in three of them. He threw two touchdowns and an interception in the last matchup against the Steelers
  • Alex Collins had a career game against the Steelers last December, finishing with a career-high 166 scrimmage yards in the team's loss. He looks to make Sunday night his third straight game of rushing for at least 80 yards against the Steelers.
  • C.J. Mosley has stepped up in the Ravens last three games against the Steelers. Mosley has 34 tackles, three tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and an interception in those games.
  • Ben Roethlisberger loves playing the Ravens at Heinz Field. He has 1,125 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, two interceptions and a 114.4 passer rating in the last three home games against Baltimore.
  • The Steelers arsenal of weapons may be the best in the league. They have top two players in scrimmage yards in the AFC as JuJu Smith-Schuster has 356 scrimmage yards and James Conner has 352.
  • Antonio Brown had 11 catches for an astonishing 213 yards in the last meeting against the Ravens.

Ravens-Steelers odds

The Steelers open up as -3.0 favorites at home. The over/under is set at 50.5.
