NFL 2018 Week 4: Bills vs. Packers preview, statistics, odds image

The Buffalo Bills shocked the NFL last week.

After starting off their season 0-2, the Bills went into Minnesota and defeated the Vikings, 27-6, as 17-point underdogs.

Rookie quarterback Josh Allen ran for a pair of touchdowns to go along with his highlight hurdle over a Vikings player. The Bills defense forced fumbles on the first two Vikings drives of the game and before you could blink the Bills already had a stranglehold on the game, grabbing a 27-0 first-half lead.

But this doesn't wipe away the poor performances that came before this one. The Bills were demolished in Week 1 as the Baltimore Ravens defeated them 48-3. In their home opener the following week, the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Bills, 31-20, prompting a change at quarterback.

Buffalo still ranks second to last in yards per game and has the league's fourth worst points per game total.

They'll need the same magic again in Week 4 as they travel to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay is 1-1-1 this season, coming off of their first loss of the season against the Washington Redskins in Week 3.

Questions about Aaron Rodgers' knee have surrounded the team since he was injured in Week 1. Following his miraculous comeback in that game against the Chicago Bears, the quarterback that's usually on the move has taken eight sacks and the Packers have gone 0-1-1.

Rodgers' arm remains fine, however.  He's thrown six touchdowns and no picks this season and has 832 passing yards.

But the Packers defense leaves a lot to be desired. They've allowed 27.7 points per game this season, including 30 points per game in the last two weeks, pressuring the Packers offense to score.

Can the Packers defense improve and shut down the rookie quarterback or will Rodgers have to perform well again to prevent Buffalo's magic from striking twice?

Bills-Packers head-to-head stats

  • Against the Vikings, Josh Allen became the third rookie quarterback to rush for two touchdowns and throw a touchdown in the first half of a game since the merger. His 111.2 passer rating is the fourth best single-game passer rating for a rookie in franchise history

  • Safety Micah Hyde returns to Green Bay for the first time since leaving the Packers after the 2016 season. He had eight picks and four sacks in four seasons with the team.
