NFL 2018 Week 17: Bears vs. Vikings preview, statistics, odds image

Entering the final game of the regular season, the NFC North champion Chicago Bears will attempt to play spoiler against their division rival, the  Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings can secure a postseason spot by simply defeating the Bears, but if they lose and the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles win their game, Minnesota will miss the playoffs.

While the Bears have already secured a postseason spot, they also have something to play for on Sunday. With a 14-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers last week, Chicago clinched the No.3 seed in the NFC. However, the Bears can earn a first-round bye with a victory over the Vikings and a Los Angeles Rams loss in Week 17.

In their win over the Niners, quarterback Mitch Trubisky completed 25-of-29 with 246 yards and one touchdown. Wideout Anthony Miller contributed 24 yards on three receptions, catching the only touchdown pass of the day for the Bears. Running back Jordan Howard chipped in a rushing touchdown, finishing with 50 yards on 13 carries.

As for the Vikings, they defeated the  Detroit Lions 27-9 in their final road game of the season. Kirk Cousins completed 21-of-28 passes for 253 and three touchdowns, including a 44-yard Hail Mary to end the first quarter. Kyle Rudolph had an explosive game, contributing 122 receiving yards on nine receptions with two touchdowns.

The Vikings will hope that history is on their side as they look to seal a postseason berth. Not only do they have the all-time series edge against the Bears (60-52-2), they have won three of their last four games against Chicago. While the Bears won their earlier contest against the Vikings on Nov. 18 of this season, Minnesota won their last matchup against Chicago at U.S. Bank Stadium on New Year's Eve in 2017.
