The calendar turns to December and the final month of the NFL season begins in Week 13.

The week kicks off on Thursday night as the New Orleans Saints take a trip to Dallas to face the Cowboys. With both teams coming off Thanksgiving showdowns, they'll each have a full week to rest before this one as the Saints look to move a step closer to securing one of the top spots in the NFC. On the other hand, the Cowboys hope their defense can slow down the Saints' high-powered offense as Dallas lingers in the hunt for the playoffs.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers make the cross-country trip to play an early game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In what could be a potential playoff matchup, the Chargers look to keep themselves in position to stay in the AFC West race. As for the Steelers, they look to continue their separation from the rest of the AFC North as James Conner proves to be more than a viable replacement for Le'Veon Bell. In a battle between one of the league's top-scoring offenses and steadfast defenses, will the Steelers be able to put up points or can the Chargers' defense remain stout?

In New England, the Patriots host the Minnesota Vikings in a matchup that almost happened in last year's Super Bowl. Both teams appear to be in the hunt again as the Patriots continue to sit at the top of the AFC East while the Vikings try to secure the NFC North over the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Minnesota paid Kirk Cousins big bucks this offseason to win games like this, and a victory at New England will help prove the team made the right decision.

Other notable matchups include a Monday night game between the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia faces a tall task to defend its Super Bowl title, but a win over Washington can help trim the Redskins' lead in the NFC East.

All times are Eastern.
