With training camp and four weeks of preseason games in the books, the NFL season is officially ready for kick off. The Buffalo Bills travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens for a Sunday matinee that represents the first game of both teams' 2018 schedule.
The Bills and Ravens last clashed in 2016 when the teams also met in Week 1. That game ended 13-7 in favour of the Ravens, and the home team will be looking to replicate that result on Sunday.
Joe Flacco will look to improve upon his 7-3 record in Week 1 games for the Ravens.
Bills - Ravens head-to-head statistics
- Buffalo's most recent road opener was the 2016 loss to Baltimore. That game gave the Ravens the overall edge in head-to-head games against the Bills, as Baltimore holds a 4-3 all-time advantage.
- In seven match-ups with the Bills, Baltimore has only ever conceded 30 or more points once. Even so, the Ravens still managed to claim victory in that game, a 37-34 overtime result from 2010.
- If the Ravens are going to hold on to their advantage against the Bills, they'll likely need to improve upon their league-worst 4.3 yards per play from last season. Quarterback Joe Flacco suffered in a similar manner last year, recording only 5.3 yards per attempt — a career low.
- On the other end of the spectrum, Buffalo's LeSean McCoy is coming off a campaign in which his 1586 all-purpose yards was more than double the output from any of his teammates.
Bills - Ravens odds
The Ravens are -7.5 point favourites at home. The over/under is set at 40.5.
