Amazon's Alexa has a distinct voice, but year after year, the company gives the device new personas during the Super Bowl.
In the past, Gordon Ramsay, Rebel Wilson, Cardi B and Anthony Hopkins have all voiced Alexa during a commercial that premieres during the big game. In 2021, it's Michael B. Jordan's turn to voice Amazon's artificial intelligence personal assistant.
The actor Jordan's inclusion comes in part as an advertisement for his new Amazon Prime series, Without Remorse. But then he takes over as Alexa, and, well, that's when the magic happens.

Michael B. Jordan's Amazon Alexa Super Bowl commercial
The commercial opens with an Amazon employee remarking on how flawless the device looks in the store. She says, "I couldn't even imagine a more beautiful vessel for Alexa to be..." before her voice trails off.
She's seen Jordan's advertisement on the side of a bus outside. Then pictured back at home, when she speaks to Alexa, it's Jordan who answers.
Jordan's asked to perform a few different tasks, including turning on the sprinklers while he's standing and getting wet, and then dimming the lights when night comes.
With no obvious explanation, dimming the lights includes this Alexa version of Jordan taking his shirt off to the obvious admiration of the on-lookers. The woman's husband comes rushing over at that moment, asking Alexa to turn the lights back up.
Two scenes later, Jordan and the woman are in the bath tub together, Jordan somehow forgetting to take his shirt off in this more obvious situation.
The advertisement closes back in the store, with it obvious the employee daydreamed the whole thing, before once again going to Jordan and the woman in the bath tub. Jordan's reading sensual lines from an audiobook as the Amazon logo comes on the screen.
Maybe this advertisement will give Amazon the idea to have different voice recordings on its Alexa device. Google has done that on its Assistant with John Legend, so maybe Alexa is next.
