Being traded from the Eagles to the Saints may have saved Jon Dorenbos' life.
New Orleans coach Sean Payton announced Friday that the veteran long snapper will undergo open-heart surgery after an aortic aneurysm was discovered by doctors during a physical.
Payton said it was discovered Jon Dorenbos had aortic aneurysm. Will require immediate surgery. He will be placed on NFI list

The Saints acquired Dorenbos from the Eagles on Aug. 28. The 37-year-old had been the Eagles' long snapper since the middle of the 2006 season after previous stints with the Titans and Bills.

A Pro Bowl selection in 2009 and 2014, Dorenbos exceeded the usual limits of a long snapper's fame with an appearance on "America's Got Talent" in 2016, showing off his considerable skill as a magician.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson told reporters Friday that the Saints' announcement was the first he has heard of any heart problem for Dorenbos.
