Sam Darnold can't seem to catch a break.

The Jets quarterback was limited in practice Wednesday because he had a ripped toenail removed after Monday's brutal loss to the Patriots.

Coach Adam Gase said Darnold is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Jaguars and will be able to participate in individual drills.

“Sam will do individual drills, we’ll evaluate him after,” Gase said prior to practice. “Hoping to get seven-on-seven in, not sure if we’re going to put him in team periods yet. Kind of that toe, we’re just trying to make sure that he’s good, feels good with the shoes that he’s got.

“So we’ll kind of progress as we go through practice. If he ends up getting a ‘Did Not Participate,’ he’ll at least do individual and then we’ll see where he’s at after that.”

The injury occurred during the Jets' 33-0 rout, which saw Darnold turn the ball over five times, throw no touchdowns and complete 11 of 32 passes for 86 yards.

It was Darnold's second game back after he missed three games due to mono. He wasn't cleared to play until his enlarged spleen had returned to normal size.

On top of the brutal outing and ripped toenail, Darnold was caught on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" broadcast saying he was "seeing ghosts," which enraged the Jets.

Gase and running back Le'Veon Bell both blasted the NFL for allowing the clip to air.

The Jets will try to get back on track and win their second game of the season Sunday against the Jaguars.
