Jets safety Jamal Adams says he never asked to be traded but New York tried to trade him.
After several reports came out before the deadline Tuesday detailing the fact that the Jets were talking to teams about Adams in trades, the safety came out and told his side of the story.
"Any reports of me asking to be traded from the New York Jets are completely false," he wrote on Twitter.
He continued: "At the end of the week last week, I sat down with the GM (Joe Douglas) and Coach (Adam) Gase and told them I want to be here in New York. I was told yesterday by my agent that the GM then went behind my back and shopped me around to teams, even after I asked him to keep me here! Crazy business."

Adams, 24, was a first-round pick by the Jets in 2017. He has been one of the team's best defensive players since but has expressed some frustration in recent weeks after it started 1-6 on the year.
"I mean, anytime I step on the field, man, I expect to win. We all do. But it didn't happen," Adams told reporters in early October after a loss to the Eagles. "We lost. It doesn't matter. So I'm frustrated, I'm upset. It is what it is."
Every player is going to be upset with losing. That happens. But organizations can sometimes live with it and move on from good players as they search for better draft picks (Dolphins). The Jets might be one of those teams as they have now changed coaches and general managers over the last two years.
The Jets hired Joe Douglas to run the team this offseason and he apparently is trying to get his players in and guys who might not be his kind of men out. He told reporters they weren't shopping Adams, but he did not say he was untouchable. The only player he said would not be traded definitively was quarterback Sam Darnold who he believes is a franchise guy.
As for Adams, the Cowboys reportedly offered a first-round pick for him, but that wasn't enough to land the Texas native. So while Douglas may have shopped him as Adams says he did, he wasn't selling him for pennies on the dollar.
The Jets now move on from the trade deadline to take on the Dolphins at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
