Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey still wants to be traded, which makes him wonder: Has he played his last game for Jacksonville?
Ramsey, who requested a trade following the second game of the season after a run-in with coach Doug Marrone, reiterated that demand Thursday on Sirius XM's "17 Weeks Podcast."
"I'm not sure if I've played my final game for the Jags yet or not, but my trade request still stands," Ramsey said. "For me, respect is a huge thing. I kind of touched on it a little back in last week's podcast. Once respect is lost for both parties, I think it is time to part ways."
Ramsey played in the Jags' Week 3 win against the Titans, but his status for Week 4 against the Broncos is uncertain. He hasn't practiced with the team all week, dealing first with the flu, and then a back issue that landed him on the injury report. He's also awaiting the imminent birth of his second child.
So, Ramsey says he's wondering if last Thursday's game was his last with the Jaguars, the team that drafted him No. 5 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. He's still playing on his rookie contract through 2020.
"I'll say the emotion really came from the unknowns," Ramsey said. "Not knowing if that was gonna be the last game with my teammates, not knowing how the fans would interact out there. Would I be getting boos out there? Would I be getting cheers out there? Just not knowing the speculation and all the talk going on and leading up to it, and not knowing how focused my teammates would remain through all the distractions that everyone tried to create.
"We were just kind of living in the moment, sinking in the moment of, 'Man, if this was the last one, it's been an honor to play alongside those guys.' It's been a good ride. It's been a fun few years playing alongside those guys."
