The Giants came crashing back to Earth in 2023, losing QB Daniel Jones to a midseason ACL tear while the rest of the offense limped along. New York is committed to Jones for at least one more season, but is there a ceiling to how good Brian Daboll's team can be in 2024?
Daboll is anticipating a much better year for the offense despite the loss of Saquon Barkley, with Jones back on the field and Malik Nabers joining a young group of wide receivers.
The back end of the Giants' defense comes with questions, but Joe Schoen's acquisition of edge rusher Brian Burns bolstered the front seven and takes some pressure off Kayvon Thibodeaux. Meanwhile, DT Dexter Lawrence remains the heartbeat of a defense hoping to take a step forward under new coordinator Shane Bowen.
New York's 2024 schedule again includes two matchups with the Cowboys and Eagles. The return to contention might begin there. The Giants are just 1-13 against the Cowboys since 2017, and they're 1-4 against the Eagles over the past two seasons. Getting back to relevance might start in the NFC East, even if it means just getting one win against Dallas.
Here is a complete breakdown of the Giants' 2024 schedule, including dates, start times, and analysis for their slate of games.

Giants strength of schedule
The Giants ranked fourth in strength of schedule last season after reaching the playoffs in 2022. The entire NFC East had a tough strength of schedule with the entire NFC West and AFC East on the docket. The division sent two teams to the playoffs, but none made it to the divisional round. The Giants and Commanders, meanwhile, sunk to the bottom.
The schedule is a bit more forgiving for the Giants this season, but it's still not what you would expect for a team that won just six games a year earlier. New York's opponent win percentage is .516, tied for sixth in the NFL but still better than the .549 winning percentage last year's schedule brought. Having the entire AFC North on the schedule for the NFC East is the biggest factor.

Toughest tests: The Cowboys and Eagles have routinely been tough teams for the Giants to beat in recent years, and they have a permanent spot on the schedule. Beyond those matchups, New York doesn't have truly difficult road opponents but does have to host both the Ravens and Bengals.
Biggest breaks: It will again be key for the Giants to take care of business against the Commanders, who are on the schedule twice. New York also faces the Panthers in 2023, but there aren't any other matchups Giants fans can pinpoint as games their team should definitively win.
Bottom line: The Giants' schedule isn't loaded with elite teams, but there aren't too many true breaks. Outside of the Commanders (twice) and Panthers, what's the easiest matchup? It might be a home game against the Saints or Colts, which is far from a guarantee for this team if its offense is anywhere near as limited as it was last season.
New York has developed a penchant for defense-led upsets under Daboll, including last season's prime-time win over the Packers, so there should still be a few wins in there for the Giants.
Record prediction: 7-10
