The Cowboys finished 9-7 last year but missed the playoffs. They cut Dez Bryant this offseason, and now have nothing close to a No. 1 receiver on their roster. It could be an interesting season in Jerry World.

Here is one player to draft and one to avoid from the Cowboys in fantasy football this season:

Draft:

Ezekiel Elliott, RB — He's the only really safe bet for production in the Cowboys' offense this season. Dallas has become a run-based team that looks to rush the ball 30-plus times a game. Elliott doesn't really have anyone on the depth chart cutting into his carries, so he could be the most-used back in NFL this season.

Elliott was suspended last season, so his off-the-field issues are a concern. But he has the potential to rack up 1,800 yards from scrimmage and 10-plus touchdowns, making him a great first-round pick in any format.

Avoid:

Dak Prescott, QB — While Prescott is a solid quarterback for the Cowboys (more than 3,200 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions last season), he's not a friendly fantasy option. For one, the Cowboys just don't throw the ball much anymore. Prescott also has limited weapons to work with this season, as it appears Allen Hurns will be the No. 1 wide receiver.

Prescott is a solid back-up option due to his running potential, but he's not someone worth drafting before the 12th round. With Jason Witten and Bryant out of town, and no real replacements brought into the mix, Dallas may struggle to throw this season.
