Fantasy football 2018 draft or avoid: Jets lack obvious offensive stars image

As the 2018 fantasy football draft season approaches, we will showcase a player to draft and a player to avoid from all 32 teams.

The Jets have been a team to avoid in fantasy football in recent seasons, failing to muster much offensive talent.

This year appears to be more of the same, as they again try to piece together an offense on the fly. But New York is in an interesting division, one that could allow someone on their roster to breakout in 2018.

Here is a player to draft and avoid from the Jets this season:

Draft:

Sam Darnold, QB — Specifically for dynasty leagues, Darnold is appealing this year. In standard leagues, he's a late-round flyer in case Josh McCown gets injured or benched. The flame-throwing rookie has some mechanical issues, but he can fit the ball into tight spaces, and potentially give this offense another dynamic.

Darnold likely won't play much this season — at least the Jets aren't planning on it — but he has a bright future. The Jets really don't have any intriguing fantasy options for 2018, so looking for the future and stashing Darnold wouldn't be a bad idea.

Avoid:

Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell, RBs — Powell is an underrated talent that can run between the tackles and catch passes out of the backfield. Crowell is a hard-nosed runner who lacks a spark. Neither are draftable because it's impossible to determine which one will score and neither will consistently rack up enough yards to earn a roster spot.

Powell is the safer bet if desperate for a running back, but it's hard to imagine either player producing anything above a 13th-round level.
