The president of the NFL Players' Association will get to play in 2017.

Tackle Eric Winston re-signed with the Bengals on Wednesday after spending the first nine weeks of the NFL season without a job. Cincinnati had released him days before the season opener in September.

Winston, who turns 34 next week, spent the previous three seasons with the Bengals.

He takes the roster spot of right tackle Jake Fisher, who was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list. Fisher left Sunday's game against the Jaguars with what was described only as an illness and taken to the hospital for follow-up tests.

The team hasn't provided specifics on his condition, but coach Marvin Lewis said at a news conference Monday that the issue is something Fisher has been dealing with for a while.
