The Packers-Cowboys showdown on Sunday was the first afternoon game since 2001 to be broadcast to 100 percent of the national audience, but that's not the only reason eyes were drawn to Dallas.

Ellen DeGeneres sent Twitter into a frenzy when she and wife Portia de Rossi were spotted sitting next to George W. and Laura Bush in a suite at AT&T Stadium.

The "Ellen" host talked about her experience on her daytime show Monday, explaining that she and de Rossi were invited by Charlotte Jones Anderson, daughter of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The Dallas Morning News noted the pair attended to tour the stadium's art collection and visited with the teams on the field before the game.

DeGeneres, a Packers fan and friend of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, went on to discuss her interaction with the former president. She defended watching the game with Bush after enduring criticism for being seen with him and shared an important message about the importance of people putting their differences aside.

"I’m friends with George Bush," she said. "In fact, I’m friends with a lot of people who don’t share the same beliefs that I have. We’re all different and I think that we’ve forgotten that that’s OK that we’re all different."

Citing the line she says at the end of every episode of her show, she later added: "When I say, ‘be kind to one another' I don’t mean only the people that think the same way you do. I mean be kind to everyone. Doesn’t matter."
