Seahawks safety Earl Thomas fractured his left leg in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, according to coach Pete Carroll.

The six-time Pro Bowl player left the field on a cart in the fourth quarter. As he left, he appeared to look at the Seahawks sideline and flip the bird.

Thomas, of course, held out the entire preseason as he tried to land a new contract with Seattle. Upon finally reporting to play, he noted on social media that the Seahawks' "disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten."

And this sort of situation is why players, who face the risk of serious injury on any given play, want the security of a long-term contract. Thomas may have played his last game as a member of the Seahawks. He will be eligible for free agency after this season.
