Eagles running back LeGarrette Blount isn't talking with any of his old Patriots friends and teammates ahead of Super Bowl 52.
With apologies to Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch's "Beast Mode," Blount is in "Enemy Mode."
"Straight enemies," Blount told reporters Friday (via NJ.com). "Ain't no friends. ... Ain't no homies. None of that. We know what we're going to do. They know what they're going to do. We both have the same goal in mind. There aren't any hard feelings, it just is what it is."
Blount played 2 1/2 seasons for the Patriots, leading the NFL with 18 touchdowns and rushing for 1,161 yards in 2016. But he left to sign a one-year deal with the Eagles in the offseason. Despite his departure from New England, Blount said he stays in touch with former running back mates James White, Dion Lewis and Brandon Bolden.
But those friendships are on hold until after the big game a week from Sunday.
"We ain't got nothing to talk about. Ain't nothing for us to talk about," Blount said (per PhiladelphiaEagles.com). "Ain't nothing for us to discuss. They play for that team; I play for my team.
"I don't play for the Patriots anymore. I don't watch the Patriots, I don't care about the Patriots. I focus on what we need to do to put us in the best position to win this game. I had a great time there last year, but last year is last year."
Blount rushed for 766 yards and two touchdowns with the Eagles this season. The 31-year-old veteran of 10 postseasons has tried to share his wisdom with his younger teammates.
“I told the young guys this, you just have to be a professional. Control your emotions," Blount said. "As rookies, they haven’t played, even national championships, they still haven’t played in a game this big, with this magnitude, so it’s tough. We enjoyed our NFC championship game, but it’s back to work.
"We know what we got to do. We know what we want to do and it’s a long, 10 or 11 however many days until it comes. You just have to control the emotions and whenever the game starts just unleash them.”
