A delighted Doug Pederson hailed the success of the 'Philly Special' after an audacious trick-play call reaped rewards and helped the Eagles secure glory in Super Bowl LII.
Back-up quarterback Nick Foles, again deputising for the injured Carson Wentz, completed a fairytale postseason by claiming MVP honors as the Eagles downed the Patriots 41-33 in Minneapolis.
Foles threw for 373 yards and three passing touchdowns on Sunday, but also claimed a receiving score towards the end of the second quarter as he caught a pass from Trey Burton in a perfectly executed play.
"That play [is something] we've been working on for the last couple of weeks," revealed Eagles head coach Pederson in his post-game news conference. "Probably the last three weeks, maybe. Since the postseason started.
"We just needed the right time, right opportunity, and the guys executed it brilliantly."
Drawing laughter from the assembled reporters, a smiling Pederson added: "You really want to know what we call it? Philly Special. Philly Special."
Pederson was understandably full of praise for Foles, with the Eagles having been written off by many following Wentz's season-ending ACL injury in December.
God is so good!!!! World Champions!!!! So proud of this team!!!! Told y’all my boy @NFoles_9 was gonna shine tonight! Well deserved my bro! #AO1 #flyeaglesfly

"I'm so happy for Nick," he added. "A lot of people counted him out and didn't think he could get it done. I believed in him, the staff believed in him, the players believed in him.
"We just needed time, we needed time together to work out some things, and this whole postseason Nick has shown exactly who he is and what he can do and what he is capable of doing.
"He's well deserved of the [MVP] honor, but I know that he would give credit where credit is due, and he had a lot of playmakers tonight make plays for him on both sides of the ball."
