Dolphins' Tyreek Hill defends Tua Tagovailoa after viral underthrow: 'We talking about practice' image

Tyreek Hill hasn't been with the Dolphins for long, but he has already had enough of people dissing his quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa was the subject of numerous jabs on social media Wednesday that stemmed from a video posted by the Dolphins on Twitter. The video featured Tagovailoa attempting a deep pass in practice to Hill.

While the team used the rocket emoji to describe the throw, others noted that the pass seemed to come up short of its intended target.

Tagovailoa's arm strength has been questioned frequently during his first two seasons in the NFL. Thus, it wasn't a surprise to see social media users harp on the throw, especially considering the Dolphins chose to share that pass above all others.

That said, Hill wasn't as amused by the video as the rest of social media. The Dolphins' receiver came to the defense of his quarterback and posted a hype video highlighting Tagovailoa's strengths a day after the first video went viral.

Certainly, those throws look a lot better than the one that Dolphins shared on Wednesday. Evoking Allen Iverson's iconic "We talking about practice" speech was well-played on Hill's part, as well.

It will be interesting to see how Hill will continue to support Tagovailoa on the field as they develop their on-field relationship. Hill spent the last four seasons of his career catching passes from Patrick Mahomes, who completed more passes on deep throws (36) in 2021 than Tagovailoa attempted (29).

The change from Mahomes to Tagovailoa could be a big adjustment for Hill. His average depth of target in 2021 was 34.7 yards, the second-highest mark in the NFL, but that's almost certain to drop as he pairs with Tagovailoa.

Still, Hill wanted to play in Miami and it seems like he's willing to make things work with Tagovailoa. He appears to be on his quarterback's side as Tagovailoa enters a critical year in his third season with the Dolphins.
