Desmond Trufant injury update: Falcons DB cleared from concussion protocol, to play Thursday vs. Saints image

The Falcons had a rocky time Sunday in a 14-9 loss to the Vikings, but got some good news Monday as cornerback Desmond Trufant has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol.

Atlanta coach Dan Quinn told reporters Monday that Trufant would return to practice to prepare for Thursday's game against the Saints.

Trufant suffered the concussion in a collision with teammate Keanu Neal the week before against the Buccaneers and left the game late in the first half.

The Falcons can certainly use Trufant against Drew Brees and the Saints' high-powered offense. The 27-year-old corner leads the Falcons with two interceptions this season.
