Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum and Raiders tight end Darren Waller tied the knot in their home city of Las Vegas on March 4.

Ten days later, Waller found himself being traded across the country to play for the Giants. A surprisingly devious and suspicious present to the happy newlyweds from Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, who made headlines when he accidentally leaked the news of their marriage to reporters at the NFL Combine – the couple had not publicly declared their intentions.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal released details of the impending nuptials on March 1, which reportedly did not sit well with Waller.

The trade has sparked speculation and conversation revolving around the curious timing of the move, prompting Plum to weigh in.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal found that the pair applied for their marriage license at the Clark County clerk's office on Jan. 22. They also had a registry set up on theknot.com, although when searched, it's no longer available to browse.

The pair were rumored to have been dating since 2022, though did not share their relationship on social media until the wedding day:

Plum is under contract with the Aces through 2024 and won't hit free agency until 2025.

Waller's contract runs even longer.

So, now the newlyweds will be forced into a long-distance relationship, a circumstance in which Raiders running back Josh Jacobs summed up best.

A cruel business, indeed.
